Spaying or neutering your pets is an essential part of pet ownership. The HSMC recognizes that not all pet owners are able to do this on their own. For this reason the HSMC has a low-cost spay/neuter program to assist individuals in the community with this important responsibility. The is a needs based program but no one requesting help is turned down. We require all participants to fill out an application for financial assistance to help us determine how best to budget our limited funds. The wait for assistance is usually 1-2 weeks.
The HSMC does not have a spay/ neuter clinic in our shelter. We coordinate our surgeries through local veterinarians and the local spay/neuter clinic. The cost of the surgery often depends on available appointments and the needs of the applicant.
