The Humane Society of Montgomery County is a nonprofit (501-C3) organization devoted to public education and the welfare of domesticated animals. The HSMC is located in the mountains of Southwestern Virginia. The HSMC shelter provides assistance in placing healthy adoptable animals from Montgomery County, Virginia through referral services and/or housing. The shelter is a no-kill  therefore, all adoptable animals are housed until suitable families are found. Our Bylaws are viewable in Word document form here.

The HSMC is fully funded by community donations. No money is provided by federal, state, or county governments.
