Marie
Dear Humane Society, We came to get Marie (mixed shepherd) on Dec. 21, 2006. When we came to pick out a dog a few days earlier, all the other dogs barked and went nuts when we came by, but Marie was very quiet and cute. They let me get in the pen with her and play a little. She promptly escaped to visit the other dogs but we put her back in. She was very nice and playful with me, so we thought she was the one. We were told she was around 10-12 weeks old, but the vet told us 2 weeks later that she was 6-7 months old, which was fine with us. We have now had her over 7 months. She was under 30 lbs when we got her and she is now 60 lbs. She answered to her name so we kept the name of Marie. I want you to know that this is the first non-Labrador my husband and I have ever owned. We wanted a companion for our 7-year-old black lab, Jasper. When we brought her home he was only a little surprised for less than a day; they have been playing ever since. The first time she ran around in our back yard, I saw a wild look enter her eye---she was free to run! They love to go out in the cool mornings to run and jump and play. Although Marie did nibble on some of our furniture, she has calmed down. She is an excellent dog and very smart. Now they play in the back yard and I take the two of them for long walks on trails. She loves all of her toys; they love to get on our beds to sleep or they are found sacked out in the hallway. The two dogs are the best of friends. Thank you for all you do. Marie is a great addition to our family.
