PO Box 287 E-mail: info@hsmcshelter.com The Humane Society of Montgomery County is a nonprofit (501-C3) organization devoted to public education and the welfare of domesticated animals. The HSMC is located in the mountains of Southwestern Virginia. The HSMC shelter provides assistance in placing healthy adoptable animals from Montgomery County Virginia through referral services and/or housing. The shelter is a "No-Kill" shelter; therefore, all adoptable animals are housed until suitable families are found. Our Bylaws are viewable here. The Humane Society is fully funded by community donations. No money is provided by federal, state, or county governments. Because the shelter does value the health of our animals and the quality of care they receive, it is impossible for us to service all ill or injured animals found. Therefore, the shelter would like to encourage the community to initiate care for the animals they find. By taking on the responsibility, you allow the shelter to better handle all animals in their care. A special thanks and acknowledgments goes out to all those who volunteer their time and contribute to the shelter. Without them the shelter would not be possible. Please promote healthy, safe lives for your animals.
