"Theo"

After our beloved cat, Bob, died at age 6 from an uncommon and sudden type of cancer in June 06’, I thought I might never get over it. What was even harder than my own loss was knowing that our other cat, Roxie, no longer had the best friend and playmate that he’d had his whole life. But even in those sad weeks after Bob’s death I knew that we would get another cat when I was ready. About a month went by and I woke up one day and said today is the day. My husband, son and I went to the Montgomery County Humane Society and spent a long time playing with all the cats. "Randy" was older than I originally had in mind for our new pet, but as soon as I got him out of the cage I knew he was the one. He was so comfortable when I picked him up that he just kind of flopped out in my arms and started purring. Randy was the last of Sabrina’s kittens to be adopted and Sabrina also needed a good home. We changed Randy’s name to Theodore and he has had a great time over the last few months getting to know his older brother, Roxie (we thought Roxie was a girl in the beginning but it turns out that he was a boy). Theo is such a fun and lovable kitten. He is into everything and I think he truly loves his new home. We have a big house for him to play in and he has hidden toys everywhere! He lays in the sink in the bathroom in the mornings while I’m getting ready for work and plays with the trickle of water coming out of the faucet. I’ve never seen a cat love to play with water the way Theo does. Sometimes it seems that he is driving Roxie a little crazy since he is constantly trying to play with him, but they get along really well most of the time. Theo has been a wonderful addition to our family. And as for Sabrina…. A few weeks ago I was chatting with a co-worker in my office and he saw a picture of Theo on my computer and said that Theo looked just like his cat. After talking about where & when we adopted them we figured out that his family had adopted Theo’s mom Sabrina. What a small world! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the work you do with homeless animals and for bringing Theo into my life. He is such a joy.
