"Teddy Bear"
We're VT alums and had adopted two pets earlier from this shelter when we lived in Blacksburg. We stopped at Steppin' Out on the way to visit relatives in 2000. I was nine months pregnant and miserable. We picked up the list of "adoptables" from the humane society's booth and got on the road to NC. Teddy Bear stuck out right away. He'd been there for eight months...probably because he was blind. He needed us. We bought a pet carrier and left my in-laws' early to get back to the shelter before they closed on Saturday. He has been such a joy to us! He had no trouble adjusting to our household (two dogs, two cats) and is a big 'ole cuddly teddy bear just like his name (which he had when we got him). Our vet thinks his blindness is due to being hit on the head with something....which makes it all the more rewarding for us to give him a loving home. Mark and Dedra Miller Shady Spring, WV |
