Volunteering Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
· |
Why has the volunteer program changed?
| Because we are so fortunate to have a large number of volunteers, we have had to begin scheduling volunteer hours to make volunteering more productive and enjoyable for both you and the animals. | ||
· |
Why do I have to commit to an hour each time I visit?
| The animals at the shelter are always very excited to see people. Because we want them to be able to calm down from the initial excitement and enjoy a long walk (in the case of dogs), or quality snuggle time (in the case of cats), we ask that you be prepared to stay for at least an hour when visiting. | ||
· |
I signed up to volunteer at the shelter but now I cannot come, what should I do?
| Please go to our VolunteerSpot page and cancel your sign-up. If you are having trouble doing this, please give us a call at the shelter. | ||

I have a group that would like to volunteer at the shelter – how do we schedule a time?

What should I wear? | |
| Working with animals is dirty business! Make sure you are wearing clothes that you do not mind getting dirty. Long pants and tennis shoes are best if working with dogs. Shorts and flip flops should be avoided if you are walking dogs. |

Can I bring toys/treats for the animals?
| We are happy to say that we are well stocked with cat toys/treats and dog toys/treats. If we are ever running low we will post on our website/facebook page. If you would like to do some shopping for the animals please consider bring adult dry dog/cat food, kitten/puppy food or clay cat litter. Those are always in short supply! |
