If you are interested in helping out at the Humane Society in a more direct manner, please check the "Volunteering" link at the top of the page for more information about personal volunteering at the shelter.
The Humane Society is fully funded by community donations and events like the ones listed below. We are very grateful to any business that chooses to sponsor an event in our name, and urge everyone to participate to help the animals!

Wilderness First Aid Certification Class to Benefit the HSMC! On October 29-30th Blue Ridge Mountain Sports will host a Wilderness First Aid Certification Course in Blacksburg. 10% of the proceeds will benefit the HSMC!! For more info check out their website at www.solowfa.com. Thanks!

HSMC 2011 Fall Raffle The 2011 Fall Raffle at the HSMC is here! Simply drop by either the shelter or the Second Time Around Store to purchase tickets! Our drawing will be held at the shelter on Sunday, 11/27, and attendance is not required to win! Tickets sell for $1 apiece, or get six for $5! | Food Lion Helps the Critters! If you shop at Food Lion, you can help HSMC get valuable support. Registering your MVP card to designate HSMC as your chosen charity will reward the animals whenever you shop at Food Lion. You can register your card by going to www.foodlion.com and clicking on MVP Rewards. You will need to provide your information along with our organization code which is 252210. Even if you have linked your MVP card in the past, you need to register again. Once your MVP card is linked, every time you use it HSMC will automatically be credited for qualifying purchases you make. What a great way to help the dogs and cats! |
Let's go Krogering! If you shop at Kroger, why not let a percentage of your Kroger bill benefit HSMC? It�s really simple. You buy a $5 gift card from HSMC (simply mail a $5 check to: HSMC P.O. Box 287 Blacksburg VA 24063 and give us your name and address). Once we mail you the card, you go to Kroger customer service and add value to your card (you can use cash, credit card, or debit card to add value). When you finish shopping, you pay with you Kroger gift card and HSMC gets a donation equal to 5% of your purchase. You can still use your Kroger Rewards Card so you lose nothing and HSMC wins!! Remember the more you spend at Kroger the more the animals benefit. |
